Education is a key pillar that not only empowers individuals but also nurtures responsible citizenship on both national and global levels. The Right to Education, enshrined in the 2010 Kenyan Constitution, guarantees free and compulsory basic education for all children, signaling a strong commitment to equitable access. However, despite this significant milestone, many Kenyan children still face challenges in their educational journeys. Socio-economic inequality among families and systemic weaknesses within the education sector continue to hinder access to quality education for many children.
The Shades of Hope Legacy Foundation’s Education initiative is dedicated to empowering disadvantaged children by providing access to education, nutrition, and wellness support. The program aligns with the Basic Education Act and SDG Goal 4 (Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all). It focuses on children aged 5-18 who are living in difficult circumstances, including those from impoverished families, differently-abled children, abandoned children, and those living in remote or hard-to-reach areas.
