Healthcare That Protects, Hope That Heals

Early detection saves lives — awareness and access can stop TB in its tracks.

Fighting Tuberculosis Through Access, Awareness, and Care

We focus on improving healthcare access by providing services aimed at the early diagnosis and prevention of Tuberculosis (TB), a global health threat responsible for millions of deaths each year. The World Health Organization estimates that 1.8 billion people are infected, with 10.6 million falling ill and 1.3 million dying annually. TB is an airborne disease that spreads when an infected person coughs or sneezes, and it remains the leading infectious disease cause of death worldwide. It also fuels economic hardship and perpetuates poverty, particularly affecting vulnerable groups like women, children, and those with HIV/AIDS.

The Shades of Hope Legacy Foundation seeks to reduce TB incidence and deaths, particularly in rural areas, aligning with Kenya’s National Strategic Plan for Tuberculosis, Leprosy, and Lung Disease (2024-2029). Recognizing that Tuberculosis (TB) remains a significant global health challenge as the world’s deadliest infectious disease, the Foundation acknowledges that TB often goes undetected. This poses a risk not only to the person with TB but also to their family members, including young children, who can rapidly develop the disease once infected. For those who are properly diagnosed, treatment can be a challenge due to medication side effects, economic losses, lack of proper nutrition, and additional factors such as mental health issues, stigma, and discrimination. The Foundation aims to enhance early TB case detection, thereby preventing the transmission of future TB cases.

Healthcare is more than treatment; it’s the foundation for dignity, resilience, and community well-being.
