Shades of Hope Legacy Foundation is a community-driven organization dedicated to breaking cycles of poverty and inequality through advocacy, education, healthcare, financial inclusion, skills development, and research. Guided by compassion and a commitment to justice, we work hand-in-hand with local communities to create sustainable solutions that uplift women, empower youth, and protect vulnerable groups.
Founded in 2017 as a community-based organization and formally registered as a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), Shades of Hope Legacy Foundation is a 501(c)(3) registered non-profit and tax-exempt charitable organization in the US (Tax ID: 33-4156085). Donations made towards advancing our mission are tax-deductible as permitted by law.
Our mission is to equip individuals with the tools they need to thrive and contribute to the development of their society. By addressing key challenges through education, healthcare, skills training, and advocacy, we are laying the groundwork for sustainable change that will positively impact future generations.
Our work is deeply rooted in the communities we serve, particularly in rural Kenya. We provide a platform for volunteers and philanthropists from around the world to connect with and support these communities. Through the co-creation of sustainable solutions, we transform ideas into impactful projects that volunteers can engage in, while also receiving donations to support both ongoing and new initiatives. Our goal is to empower underprivileged youth and communities by providing access to education, healthcare, and essential skills, helping break the cycle of poverty and creating a brighter future for all.
Dr. Hesborn Birisi is a distinguished financial and forensic accounting specialist with a profound commitment to financial literacy, inclusion, and community empowerment. He holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Finance, is a Certified Public Accountant, and is also a Certified Forensic Accountant. Dr. Birisi is currently a Lead Auditor in the Fraud Prevention & Labor Standards Section of the Washington State Government, USA. Previously, he was a University Don in Kenya, where he taught Finance, Audit, and Forensic Accounting. He also worked with Christian Life Community – Kenya, a Jesuit-affiliated organization, and served as a Systems Auditor in an international organization.
Dr. Birisi has dedicated his career to promoting equitable access to quality education, driven by a vision of creating a brighter, more inclusive future for all.
His philanthropic efforts are deeply influenced by his humble beginnings.Born in the heart of Biticha village in the rural landscape of Nyamira County, he was raised by a single mother under circumstances many would consider insurmountable. His journey of perseverance, resilience, and hope has shaped who he is today and serves as a testament to the fact that circumstances do not define who we are or what we can achieve.
These experiences ignited a deep desire within him to give back and make a difference in the lives of others facing adversity, just as he once did. This is why he co-founded the Shades of Hope Legacy Foundation, a platform through which he channels his own story into a force for good, transforming lives and making a meaningful impact.
