Founder Advocates for Increased TB Funding at U.S. Capitol

In March 2025, the Founder of Shades of Hope Legacy Foundation joined leading global health advocates at the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C. for TB Hill Day 2025. The event brought together organizations, health experts, and community leaders united in the fight against Tuberculosis (TB) — the world’s deadliest infectious disease.

During the event, advocates met with members of Congress and government officials to call for increased funding for TB research, prevention, and treatment programs. The discussions underscored the urgent need for greater resources to tackle TB, which continues to claim over a million lives each year and disproportionately affects vulnerable communities in Africa and beyond.

The Founder highlighted the devastating impact of TB in Kenya, especially in rural areas where access to healthcare is limited. He emphasized the importance of early detection, community awareness, and nutritional support as part of holistic strategies to stop the spread of TB and save lives.

“This is not just about funding research,” he stated. “It’s about giving people a chance to live, to work, and to thrive free from the burden of a preventable disease. Increased investment in TB programs is an investment in human dignity and global health security.”

The participation of Shades of Hope Legacy Foundation at TB Hill Day 2025 reflects the organization’s continued commitment to advocacy, healthcare access, and community empowerment. By joining voices with other advocates on Capitol Hill, the Foundation is amplifying the call for urgent action to end TB once and for all.
