Dr. Hesborn Birisi is a distinguished financial and forensic accounting specialist with a profound commitment to financial literacy, inclusion, and community empowerment. He holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Finance, is a Certified Public Accountant, and is also a Certified Forensic Accountant. Dr. Birisi is currently a Lead Auditor in the Fraud Prevention & Labor Standards Section of the Washington State Government, USA. Previously, he was a University Don in Kenya, where he taught Finance, Audit, and Forensic Accounting. He also worked with Christian Life Community – Kenya, a Jesuit-affiliated organization, and served as a Systems Auditor in an international organization.
Dr. Birisi has dedicated his career to promoting equitable access to quality education, driven by a vision of creating a brighter, more inclusive future for all. His philanthropic efforts are deeply influenced by his humble beginnings. Born in the heart of Biticha village in the rural landscape of Nyamira County, he was raised by a single mother under circumstances many would consider insurmountable. His journey of perseverance, resilience, and hope has shaped who he is today and serves as a testament to the fact that circumstances do not define who we are or what we can achieve.
These experiences ignited a deep desire within him to give back and make a difference in the lives of others facing adversity, just as he once did. This is why he co-founded the Shades of Hope Legacy Foundation, a platform through which he channels his own story into a force for good, transforming lives and making a meaningful impact.
